SPH3U Physics (Grade 11) – Small Group Program
Our SPH3U Physics program in Ontario is designed for Grade 11 students who want a strong foundation, structured support, and consistent improvement in physics.
Prerequisites
- Completed Grade 10 Science (SNC2D)
- Solid algebra skills (rearranging formulas, basic graphing)
- Comfort working with numbers and units
Course Overview
SPH3U introduces the core principles of physics, forming the foundation for Grade 12 Physics and STEM pathways. This SPH3U Physics program in Ontario focuses on building problem-solving skills and preparing students for Grade 12 physics.
Students will study:
- Kinematics (motion)
- Forces and dynamics
- Energy and work
- Waves and sound
The focus is on understanding how formulas work and when to apply them, not memorizing equations.
Instructor
This course is taught by a PhD in Physics with over 30 years of teaching experience across high school and university-level mathematics and physics.
His approach emphasizes:
- Breaking down complex concepts into clear systems
- Training students to solve problems step-by-step
- Building confidence through structured practice
What We Expect from Students
- Consistent weekly practice
- Active participation in solving problems
- Attention to detail (units, steps, accuracy)
- Commitment to improving weak areas
Students who avoid practice will struggle quickly in physics.
Path to Success (Our Method)
- Structured Weekly System
Concepts → examples → guided practice → testing - Small Cohort Learning (6–12 students)
Direct engagement and accountability - Problem-Solving Focus
Step-by-step method training (not guesswork) - Continuous Feedback
Weekly corrections and performance tracking - Foundation Building for Grade 12
Preparing students early for SPH4U expectations
Outcome
By the end of this course, students are prepared to:
- Perform strongly in SPH3U
- Transition confidently into SPH4U (Grade 12 Physics)
- Solve physics problems with clarity and structure
This SPH3U Physics program follows the Ontario curriculum and builds the foundation required for success in SPH4U and future STEM programs. Our small-group approach ensures consistent progress and strong understanding.
